Set the display and filter conditions for the item list
Last updated
On the item list of the Content screen, you narrow down which items are listed with keyword search and filters, and change how they are displayed by sorting columns and switching which columns are shown.
Filters, column sort, and which columns are shown can be saved to a view. The steps for saving are in Create, edit, and delete a view. Switching to another view without saving loses the state you set.
Keyword search is not saved to a view. It is cleared when you switch models or views.
Owner, Maintainer, Writer, and Reader can all perform these four operations.
Search by keyword
Section titled “Search by keyword”Shows only the items containing the characters you entered in the list. What is searched is the values of every field in that model, plus the item’s ID, created by, and updated by.
- Enter characters in the search box.
- Click the magnifying-glass icon.
- To clear the search, click the clear icon in the search box.
Set conditions with a filter
Section titled “Set conditions with a filter”Narrows down the items by field values. One condition is made up of three parts: the field, the condition, and the value.
-
Click Filter.
-
Choose the field you want to filter by.
-
Choose a condition in the panel that opens. Which conditions you can choose depends on the field’s type, and some conditions need no value. The list of conditions is in Item Filter / Sort.
-
Enter a value.
- Option, Tag, Boolean, and Check Box: choose from a list.
- Date: choose from a calendar.
- Other types: enter characters or a number.
-
Click Confirm.
Each condition you set appears as a button labeled with the field name. Clicking the button lets you change the condition, and clicking its ✕ removes that condition. When you set more than one condition, only the items meeting all of them appear in the list.
Instead of Filter, there is also a route of clicking the Control icon and choosing Add Filter. Both open the same panel.
Sort by a column
Section titled “Sort by a column”Determines the order the items appear in, according to the values of the column you choose. You specify either ascending or descending order, and only one column can be used for sorting.
- Click the heading of the column you are sorting by. It becomes ascending.
- Clicking again makes it descending. A third click clears the sort.
Clicking another column’s heading switches to sorting by that column.
There is also a route of clicking the Control icon and choosing Add Sort. On this route you choose a column, choose Ascending or Descending, and click Confirm.
Switch which columns are shown
Section titled “Switch which columns are shown”Chooses the columns to show in the list.
- Click the gear icon.
- In the list that appears, check a column to show it and clear the check to hide it.
