Switch a project's visibility between public and private
Last updated
A project’s visibility is the setting that determines who can retrieve its published items. You switch it under Danger Zone on the project’s Settings screen.
Visibility is also chosen at creation time. The steps for creating a project are in Create, change, and delete a project.
Where published items can be retrieved from under Public and under Private is described in Project and Public API Settings.
A project’s visibility is a setting separate from whether an item is published. Even with a project’s visibility set to Public, an item that is not published cannot be retrieved. The steps for publishing an item are in Publish and unpublish an item.
A project can be switched to Private only in a workspace on a paid plan. On the Open & Public plan, Private appears in the selection field, but choosing it does not complete the switch.
Owner, Maintainer, and Writer can switch visibility. Reader can view it.
